Oil Mist Collection Equipment
FibreDrain Oil Mist Filters – solutions for your workplace
Oil mist almost always results in oily premises, equipment and
products. Modern metalworking machinery is often controlled by sensitive electronics and production is lowered by unplanned disruptions – caused by contaminated circuit boards. Handling equipment and pieces of products coated in a thin film of oil is not an acceptable working practice and definitely not production-friendly. Removing oil mist is therefore essential for workplace safety and cleanliness.
Oil mist affects the health of machine operators, disrupts production and settles everywhere in the area, resulting in slippery floors and work surfaces. Almost all machining operations create oil mist to some extent. Oil mist is the aerosol that is formed when oil is used for cooling or lubricating during the machining of metal and some plastic components. Oil smoke is formed when oil contacts the hot machined surface, vaporizes, and condenses as sub-micron particles.
It is well known that prolonged and repeated exposure to oil products can be harmful to health, which means that good ventilation must be ensured under all working conditions. Oil emulsions normally contain 90-95% water and the remaining is soluble oil. The oil mist consists of aerosols from oil or oil/water emulsion. Mineral oil-based metalworking fluids are known as neat cutting oils or straight oils. Emulsions normally contain a number of undisclosed additives.
Rock solid solutions for high-efficiency air filtration
Nederman solutions for oil mist filtration are designed for continuous operations in demanding airflow applications. Our unique FibreDrain® technology ensures superior separation performance and long filter media life, thus minimizing your overall costs and ensuring total peace of mind. A wide range of filters are available, covering the entire spectrum from wet to medium wet and semi dry (MQL) and dry applications.
Nederman oil mist filters feature a unique, specially treated fiber surface that allows the collected droplets to coalesce, grow in fiber intersections and finally drain by gravity out of the filter medium. This technology, called FibreDrain® ensures superior efficiency even under the most challenging conditions in continuous operations.
The filters don’t absorb or get clogged by the oil. Instead, thanks to FibreDrain®, the air is thoroughly cleaned and a maximum amount of coolant can be retrieved and reused.
Oil Mist Filter FibreDrain®
FibreDrain® oil mist and oil smoke collectors are designed with the unique FibreDrain® filter technology to guarantee high filtration efficiency and long filter life also at high oil mist concentrations in continuous operation. The FibreDrain® oil mist collectors are modular which extends the possible air flow capacity over the maximum size in standard range. All units are prepared with sampling ports that can be used for Nederman Insight solutions, other control systems or measurements during operation. A wide range of accessories available to meet most application requirements.

Liquid Bag Vessels
Unfiltered fluid enters the vessel above the bag and passes down through the middle of it. Solids are retained inside the bag where they are easily disposed of once the bag is removed during service. Fluid bypass is prevented as the outside diameter of the bag seals the perimeter against the inside diameter of the vessel. As an option to bags, strainer baskets can be used to filter particulate down to 74µ.
DHA Filter offers bag vessels to fit any sized application:
- Single, Duplex, Multi-Round and Manifolds
- Carbon steel, stainless steel or polypropylene construction
- Single vessels fit applications under 50 gpm up to 220 gpm
- Duplex vessels eliminate the need for shut down when change out is needed
- Multi-Round vessels can offer as much as 3500 gpm
- Custom manifolds designed to fit your application
Options:
- Sanitary connections
- Different outlet connections
- Extra-length legs
- Liquid displacers for easier servicing

Duplex filters permit continuous operation, reducing overall operating costs. Flow can be switched back and forth between two filter vessels, allowing one side to be serviced while the other is in use. A duplex housing, using a single multi-port valve system, is a better solution with many benefits.
Model D8 Duplex Bag Filter Vessel
Features:
- Low Pressure Drops
- Permanently Piped Housings
- Covers are O-ring Sealed
- Carbon Steel or Stainless Steel (304 or 316)
- Adjustable Height Legs
- O-ring seals: Buna-N, EPR, Viton®, Teflon®
- dP Ports
- NPT or Flanged Styles
- Two Basket Depths: 15” or 30” (nominal)
Benefits:
- Four separate valves are used all operated simultaneously by a single lever
- Valves are standard butterfly design, known for their effective seal, low pressure drop and low cost
- Any of the valves can be serviced individually, without disturbing the other valves or piping
- Valves are soft-seated to provide bubble-tight closure
- A variety of valve seal materials are available for use with a number of aggressive fluids
- Pressured drop is minimized because the flow path has the equivalent of only four elbows instead of six
- Mechanical stops assure that the valves are completely open or closed
- A single-valve pressure balancing vent system is furnished to ease the movement of the lever
- Vents in filter covers and drain ports in filter housing speed evacuation and filling
Gravity Bed Filters
Media filters which offer automatic operation and utilize low cost roll media, are well suited to applications with moderate contaminant levels. Contaminated liquid flows through non-woven synthetic filter fabric supported by a conveyor belt. As the filtered contaminants restrict the liquid flow, the liquid level rises and actuates a float switch that runs the conveyor gear motor. Clean liquid collects in the tank and is returned to service by the pump.
The Myco Media filter provides a highly efficient and reliable means of removing solids from process liquids. It features a non pressurized system which is economical and easy to operate. The Myco Media filter has a fully automated system that ensures efficient cleaning of any process fluid and optimizes the amount of media used.
The filter is available in a variety of materials of construction, depending upon the application and in various sizes to accommodate varying flow rate requirements.
Fully automatic gravity bed filters provide a highly efficient and reliable means of removing solids from process liquids. Extremely economical and easy to operate, this unit can handle occasional system overloads without binding the filter media. Solids are discharged as a cake for easy handling and disposal.
